Sorry for my delay in updating the blog. On Monday July 24 Bow had another Brain MRI and a PET Scan. These were done to compare with the ones that were done at the beginning of this journey. We met with the doctor on Thursday July 27 and everything was GREAT news. Brain scan is still clear which is a relief because Melanoma tends to spread to the brain. The best news came from the results of the PET Scan. It shows that everything is shrinking. Helga, which is what we named the large tumor on his shoulder, has shrunk considerably to almost nothing. Felicia, is the name we gave the tumor in his abdomen, is still there but does not have as much active cancer. The doctor even thinks that it is dying and that the body will eventually absorb the necrotic tissue. We want to be able to say “Bye Felicia!” The ones in the lungs are about the same. The good thing is they have not progressed and there are no new ones. He has moved to the maintenance phase of his immunotherapy infusion treatments which will be once a month with only one drug, the drug Opdivo. He will have PET Scans every two months to keep an eye on everything. He us currently off all his pain medications and off the oxygen. We appreciate all the thoughts, prayers and love that we have received. We know that while this journey has been a hard one and it’s far from over that without each of you it would be so much worse.
